Typed annotation glued to front of display card: Bulli Public School - Alexander Ross. Alexander Ross was manager of the Bulli Coal Company's mine and also secretary and treasurer of the local committee that applied, to the Council of Education on February 5, 1868, for the establishment of a public school at Bulli. He served for some time as a Local Patron. From a reproduction of the painting in the Mitchell Library.
